In Year 2, we follow the Ready, Steady Write curriculum. Throughout the year we will engage with a wide range of texts and learn new literary skills that will help us progress in our reading and writing.

The skills that we will learn include:
Read accurately by blending the sounds in words that contain the graphemes taught so far
Read accurately words of two or more syllables that contain the same graphemes as above
Read most words quickly and accurately
Develop pleasure in reading, motivation to read, vocabulary and understanding
Participate in discussion about books, poems and other works
Segmenting spoken words into phonemes and representing these by graphemes, spelling many correctly
Develop positive attitudes towards and stamina for writing
Make simple additions, revisions and corrections to their own writing
